Mmmm, mashed sweet potatoes. These are great for new moms: it’s a simple recipe so if you don’t have someone to make them for you, it won’t take long. Since new moms need foods that are sweet, warm, oily, simple, and moist to rebalance their elements, this is the perfect dish! Can be served as a side or on its own.
- 4 medium to large sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 Tbsp pure maple syrup
- ½ Tbsp butter
Boil the sweet potatoes for 10 to 15 minutes until soft. Drain and return to the pan.
Add the butter and syrup and mash well until sooth. Add salt to taste and sprinkle on the nutmeg. Serve hot.
